While I don't either Love or Detest these, they do have their uses when required. I needed them to repair an extended reach gripping device that failed, and these fit inside the 2 foot long tube encasing the actuator rod which had failed(a plastic one replaced by me with another more robust rod) and these kept the rod centered.in the tube.
