First layout laser!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this laser after quite a bit of research. I was looking for something to layout walls and soffits in my basement. It works so well I have taken it to work (electrician) and laid out pipe racks with it. I have the optional tripod, laser detector, glasses, and markers. It makes framing so much more accurate!

Q: is this unit self leveling, does it do both horisontal and vertical lines / seperate or at same time

1 Answer

A: This product is simply a detector, so there is no self leveling mechanism. If you turn the detector 90 degrees so that it is horizontal with the ground the detector will pick up the vertical beam. Dewalt’s line lasers have patented full-time pulsing beams, so it is important to note the detector is compatible with the following lasers – 057-4607, 057-4616 & 057-4588. It can only pick up one beam at a time – vertical or horizontal.
