Pearls of wisdom

I used it to reseal my travel trailers front corner trim. I found it was a bit runny. Where as silicone stays where you apply it. The clear dap would bead up.

Horrible Smell - long time to set

I bought the DAP UltraClear 147mL tube. I guess I must be used to most sealants on the shelf being low VOC. It doesn't say it's low VOC so shame on me. This sealant smells terrible and is pretty nauseating. I also found it slow to tack up on the surface. I used a bead that was about 3/16" and it took over 90minutes to tack up. The environment of my home is a really low relative humidity of 28% and 70 deg F so that didn't affect drying time. I was using it to seal the perimeter of my humidifier housing to the supply air plenum. I didn't use duct sealer because I though it would look messy. I was looking for that clear finish. I'll pick something else for this application next time. I was looking for that clear finish.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for posting your feedback about DAP Ultra Clear Flexible Sealant. Ultra Clear Flexible Sealant is a solvent/synthetic rubber sealant. Because this is a solvent based formula, it carries additional warnings and cautions on both the product package label as well as supporting product literature, such as: "DANGER! FLAMMABLE LIQUID AND VAPOR - Read side panel carefully for other cautions, Do not breathe vapors. Use only with adequate ventilation. Ensure fresh air entry.", "Ensure adequate ventilation when applying indoors and avoid working near excessive heat, sparks, open flame and any ignition source. Wear gloves and eye protection. Wear clothing to prevent skin contact." As further indicated on the product package label guidance, as well as supporting product literature: "Wear rubber gloves" (to protect your skin) and "Clean up excess uncured sealant from surface and tools with mineral spirits. Scrape or cut away excess cured sealant." (signaling that this is not a soap and water clean-up product). With respect to your commentary regarding dry time, it is normal and expected for solvent/rubber chemistries, such as DAP ULTRA CLEAR to take several days to fully dry through/develop full performance. As indicated on the product package label/product literature: "Full Dry Through: 7 days". Based on your commentary, you may wish to consider an easier to use and lower odor acrylic-latex (soap and water clean-up formula). At your convenience, please feel free contact DAP’s Technical Customer Service Department at 888-327-8477, so that we can obtain some additional information from you, so we can provide a more definitive recommendation for an alternate product. Used to seal new hot tub light. applied to gasket and installed, then filled as product noted immediate water proof. It was, hot tub was fill 2 weeks ago and no leaks from light. worked as described.
