Let my Dad break it in for me apparently worked well the first go for some Lake Michigan trout, with the warning it had three settings; too cold, very hot, and surface of the sun. With that in mind took it along with me for the reason I initially bought it for extended weekend camping at an annual competition I go to, didn't make it after the second cooking, grill top warped so bad I couldn't close it. Would have liked this little guy to last longer than it did, bought it almost a year ago and only used three times, all within the last month. I wish Coleman would come out with a better grill top, body is in great shape. My propane stove, which was much cheaper than this grill, has lasted four years without an issue and my white gas stove I have had since Boy Scout days is now almost 20 years still no issues.

No, I do not recommend this product.

After the first use the grill grate warped that it became unusable. I have an old Coleman stove 49yrs to be exact that is all steal & have never had a problem with it. I’d rather pay more and get better quality.

This grill won't last more than a few uses.

I searched for a camp stove because my big green camp stove finally became unrepairable after more than 20 years of use. An ad from Meijer popped up with this stove and we needed it same day, so we went over and bought it. This isn't a stove. It's a grill. That's my fault for not paying attention to the box. The grill top on this is super flimsy. You can't put any sort of pan or pot on it. All you can do is cook food directly on it, and based on how the color changed on the finish when it was heated, there is no way I would put food on it. The slats are too small to to fit any thing through to light the grill, which means you have to light it and then put the grate on over the open flame. The connector for the propane tank is junk. It's hard to tell if it is sealed when attached to the stove, and I'm pretty sure it cross threaded the first time we attached a propane tank to it. The unit has no carry handle. It has a cutout on the underside, but that leave the stove (wait, I mean grill...) really unbalanced. The only redeeming aspect of this grill is that it. Um, actually there isn't one. Unless it has value as scrap metal. I expected much better quality from Coleman.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Can you cook using pots on the grill?

3 Answers
  • A: Yes indeed you can! You don't need a stove element to cook something in a pot! As for a round frying pan, anything under 10 inches is fine. The actual width of the grill is just over 11 inches, giving you some room to move it around. Just make sure the bottom of the pot is smooth so it doesn't scratch off the non-stick surface of the grill. I use a 10 inch Square Cake Pan for making Scrambled Eggs, leaving room on the other side of the grill for meat items and a large tin to boil water...some for coffee, and some for cleaning up afterwards.
