The wood breaks along the grain on the handle.

The description is true these are solid wood with a heavier construction but i get the feeling they used the wrong type of wood. If you're playing gently they'll be fine but if kids are playing expect a couple broken mallets at the least.

This is a cheap piece of junk. The mallets are made of pine and were all warped. Had to return it for a refund after using it once.

I purchased the most expensive set available because I wanted it to last. One of the mallets broke when I was putting it together. Another snapped before the end of the first round. Don't be fooled by the sturdy packaging. I am returning this item - hopefully for a full refund.
