I bought this item twice hoping that I had just not used it correctly the first time. It did not hold a flame and the second time I ended up adding logs to get it to work. The instructions do indicate that kindling should be added if the flame doesn’t hold. I have used another brand before and it worked perfectly. Do not recommend

These logs are great for loosening stuck creosote from your chimney, making the sweeping process very easy. I also noticed that these logs are becoming quite expensive. Either way, they still do a great job.

A: We have been using this for our first fire each year and had our chimney inspected and its been doing its job. I don't think you would need to buy this otherwise, there may be less expensive logs.

A: I would say no it's designed to burn slow and release chemicals to loosen the soot in the chimney is there no other way you can put it in the wood burning environment

Q: Can I use this product with a forced air wood furnace?

A: Yes you can, but when using it keep the blower on a low setting so it does not blow the minerals through too fast, and they have the chance to adhere properly.

A: No it is not – there may be a blockage of the exhausting pipe stove or fireplace flue. Recommend that the chimney be cleaned of possible obstructions by a professional chimney sweep.

Q: first time user so I have had trouble recently starting the woodstove. I use lots of paper and kindling ... once iot gets going I run it at 1/2 or full until it burns correctly. Just wondering if this log will help

A: It would seem that the draft of your woodstove has changed which could be an indication that the pipe is clogged. The CSL Log is more preventative than a cure. Suggest that a Chimney Sweep clean the pipe and cap area of any debris. This is very important to ensure that Carbon Monoxide does not build-up in your home during use.
