Peace of mind

Since the garage door was left open overnight the other night, I went to purchase this simple add on. Now I can get alerts when the door is left open for more than certain amount of time - you can set this up for however long you want. Can also get alerts every time the door is opened or closed.....and can open or close the door remotely through the APP. Great for peace of mind....never have to worry about going to sleep with an open garage door!

Great product and easy to setup!

I almost didn't buy this because of the average of the reviews. Reading further almost all of the negative reviews are about how it doesn't support some home automation. They make a more expensive version that does. I simply want to be able to see if my kids left the door open; and be able to close it remotely. Also having the ability to open the door for somebody is also convenient. I can do all of that from my phone. It even tells me how long the door has been open or closed.
The only con with the device and the app is that although it allows for alerts, it won't allow me to set an alert if the door has been left open. I will be submitting a feature request to the manufacturer for that.
Setup is easy. Connect the device to your network, log into the website, and when prompted, press the "program" button on your opener in the garage.

No open api support

I really wanted to use this device to connect with my smartthings hub only to find it isn't supported.. in fact.. actively blocked :( at the very least I need IFTTT support.. I don't want to have to have yet another app on my phone to see the status of my garage and control it when the possibilities of an open API would allow me to not even need touch my phone to be told that i might of left my garage open or trigger turning on lights from other IFTTT systems (not the only light device supported..)

Has Problems with gigabit switches

I updated an old ethernet switch with a new gigabit switch. The myq device no longer would connect to the internet. I had to hook my old switch to the new gigabit switch in order for it to work again.

I do like my myQ garage door opener but after a couple of years with no IFTTT intergration it's lacking in possibilities that other garage doors have. I'd love to be able to use voice commands to operate overhead door. Now it seems I have to buy another smart device to do it. Very disappointed in Chamberlain.
