A: I did use it for a camping tarp, however it was too lightweight to withstand the winds we had one night in algonquin park, and unfortunately it tore at the grommets and was unusable after that night. you should get a heavier gauge one to use as a tarp.

A: 0405031 can be used to cover the garage but the it might not be strong enough outdoors. 0402642 canvas tarp is more recommended in this case.
