Solid skid shoes but bolts are little too long

Bought these to replace my very old and worn ones currently on my Bolens MTD blower. they are a bit smaller, yet still steel, which i liked.
my only complaint is that the carriage bolts that came with this are pretty long. Not sure why they are. They stick out a bit when there would have been plenty of bolt left to do the job.

Metal shoes for 3 stage Troy bilt snow thrower

The bolts should be a bit shorter so they don’t stick out to the side as much. Other than that they worked great . I hope they last longer than the plastic ones.
