Sturdy tarp no issues

Had zero problems spreading and smoothing out the tarp it was firm but malleable enough to form to the rink design no leaks I guess we'll see how it holds up in the thawing season

Can't hold water when it has multiple holes.

Took this out of the package and laid it out to start the rink. As I was filling it with water, I realized there are multiple defects along one of the center seams. It is a frustrating waste of money and time. I see some people have had luck with this, but I won't be trying my luck again with this product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Is there a way to connect two of these side by side to make a larger rink?

  • A: From my recollection I believe not. I wouldn’t recommend it as the water may leak where the tarp would separate. You want to keep your water contained within the tarp.

Q: Can I use this tarp for an ice rink in my backyard

  • A: Yes this tarp would be suitable for an ice rink, I used it last year. My opinion do not buy the prefab rinks, yes they work but they do NOT perform well in freeze/thaw which happened 3 times last winter and do not perform well on lots that have normal/excessive grading, it works best on very flat properties. A few tips -buy a tarp that is atleast 5 ft wider and 5 feet longer than your actual rink size -do not walk on the tarp, if you do ensure you boots are clean and walk gently -cut grass short, put some fertilizer and some seed, you will be amazed in the spring -do not lay the tarp until freezing temps are in the forecast to avoid leaves and other debris, this will cause the the ice to melt on sunny days in that spot if there is debris -buy a roll of good duct tape or red insulation tape they work best under water if a leak springs -use stakes and 2 x # boards, fastening with screws every 4 - 6 ft when attaching the tarp try to lay it out first, put a little water in it then once frozen and full then use a staple gun to attach the tarp to the boards, leave some give. -if possible use hot hot water for your floods, makes for the best ice and does not chip like cold water floods, ensure you use a hot water rated hose...trust me. -do not allow thawed rink to sit for long, remove once season is done asap, enjoy

Q: Quel quantité d'eau ça prend t'il

1 Answer
Q: tarp 20x40, #040-5083-6, it says it's an ice rink, I bought it thinking it was a heavy duty tarp I purchased it to cover my trailer and need a heavy duty tarp with grommets to attach lines too, will this product do this with the quality of a heavy duty tarp, or can it only be used as a ice rink?

1 Answer
  • A: The 20x40ft Pit Stop White Poly Tarp includes Rust-Resistant Grommets and can also be used for storage, construction, and transportation. However, if the product is being used for seasonal and extreme weather conditions the recommended tarp that is of equal size is 040-5064 Pit Stop Heavy-Duty Premium Tarp, 20x40-ft. This Heavy-Duty Tarp that can be found at your local Canadian Tire store consists of a premium weave, rust-resistant grommets, and reinforced corners.
