Q: Can I use it in a 2008 Nissan Versa cvt transmission?

A: According to Castrol’s Lubrication Recommendations Guide recommended for a 2018 Nissan Versa, Nissan CVT Fluid NS-2 is the recommended fluid. Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal is suitable for use where Nissan CVT Fluid NS-2 is called for. Castrol does not recommend mixing different ATF products. Since we do not have access to the proprietary formulations of competitor fluids, we cannot guarantee their compatibility with Castrol products. For this reason, we strongly recommend performing a complete transmission drain and refill using the Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal. This process should include draining the torque converter, which typically holds approximately half of the transmission fluid volume. Please note that dropping the transmission pan alone will not drain the torque converter. Instructions for draining the torque converter may be available online, or you may prefer to have this service performed by a qualified service facility to ensure thorough fluid replacement.

A: According to Castrol's Recommendations Guide, the recommendation for a 2018 Subaru Forester 2.0L 4-cyl with a Turbo is fluid meeting Subaru High Torque CVT Fluid. If it does not have a Turbo, fluid meeting Subaru CVT Fluid Lineartronic II is required. Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal is suitable for use where Subaru High Torque CVT Fluid or Subaru CVT Fluid Lineartronic II is specified and may be used in your application. Castrol does NOT recommend mixing different ATF products as Castrol cannot guarantee compatibility with competitive fluids as we do not know their proprietary formula. Therefore, we recommend a complete drain of the transmission and re-fill with the Castrol Transmax ATF/CVT Universal. This should include draining the torque converter which holds about one-half of the ATF volume -- dropping the pan will not cause the torque converter to drain. You may find directions for draining the torque converter online or you may wish to have this service performed for you by a service facility.

Q: The back label on Castrol Transmax® ATF/CVT states VW/Audi (6,8,9 speed). I own two VW vehicles both with 6 speed but different oil specs. One calls for G 055 025 2 the other for G 055 540 A2. Can I use the Castrol Transmax® ATF/CVT oil in both vehicles?

This information can be found in the owner's manual or by contacting the manufacturer directly. Before using any lubricant, ensure that the product specifications meet or exceed the lubricant specifications required by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for that specific use. Castrol does not have a fluid meeting the John Deere J20D specification. Only John Deere is able to identify the equivalent performance aspect and/or make a recommendation for an appropriate alternate product if available. Please contact John Deere directly to ensure that you service your John Deere Lawn Tractor with the correct fluid.
