Q: I tried this charcoal filter on my Broan BP100 range hood but it's too thick to fit when installing 2 filters together according to the installation instruction, one aluminum filter and this charcoal filter. Can I install /use this charcoal filter only?

A: This is the correct charcoal filter for your BP100 series range hood. It needs to be installed with the grease filter. There should be a concave in the centre of both filters, allowing the blade to freely turn. If the filters have been flattened during shipping or storage, push gently in the centre of both of the filters, with your fist, to create the concave, allowing free movement of the blade.

Q: Why do I need to use charcoal filters for non ducted fans

A: When a range hood is ducted, the hood is vented to the outdoors. With a non-ducted installation, the air recirculates into the kitchen. Charcoal filters capture grease, smoke, and odour. In a non-ducted installation, if charcoal filters are not used, all grease, smoke and odour will recirculate into the kitchen.
