I had a 'straight' pin type lock before and somehow it got bent. This lock is one piece and compact.

Q: Does this lock serves the purpose of stopping theft of the trailer? I have a boat trailer which is what I want to protect from anyone towing it away. the ball size is 2 inches. please guide me if this or something else (economical in cost) will be more effective for the purpose . thanks AJ

A: Although no lock is capable of wholly stopping or eliminating theft, this lock does effectively deter theft attempts. The lock barrel is inserted in to the coupler latch pin holes on your trailer to prevent opening or latching the coupler of your trailer. This particular lock is suitable for light utility trailers that sit empty or preventing uncoupling while a trailer is hitched, as this lock does not protect against access to the coupler opening itself. If your trailer will be sitting unattended with cargo, we would prefer to recommend a coupler lock that installs to the coupler ball, preventing access to the coupler and minimizing the potential for a soft connection to tow the trailer away a short distance.
