Purchased the unit on sale. 9 volt batteries I bought for it at Canadian tire were a real bugger to get in. First 5 minutes of use...batteries died. Purchased another set of batteries. They died within 5 min. Returned the unit to Canadian Tire for a full refund.

Got this on sale and am glad we bought it. My son took it to the beach and found lost coins. We used it to find our uncles cross necklace he lost in our yard.very useful and fun

Q: Can this unit be used in water Can this unit be used to detect items in shallow water at the beach, lake, etc?

A: This unit as a whole, is NOT a submergable piece. The loop can be used in moist conditions, but it is not recommended for use under water. You might be able to buy an underwater loop to use with it though.

A: The true answer is that it depends on the size of the object and soil conditions. With that in mind, under normal soil conditions…will detect a coin size object up to 8” deep, and larger objects up to 3 feet. It has a Running Depth Graph.
