Good product but coverage was less than advertised.

Called for 1 can for a double garage but I required 2 . It was the first time it was painted so not sure if that was a factor.

Love this epoxy.

Used this beige epoxy to paint over an older grey epoxy that was peeling after a few years. After proper cleaning and preparation, this epoxy was easy to apply. Waited about 10 days before parking SUV and after 2 summer months, no problems whatsoever. Garage floor never looked so good.

Not bad

Good product but not compatible with epoxy chips. Little pricy because I was planning to add chips on it but they don’t float

Paint Failed Within 2 Weeks of Application

I’m extremely disappointed with the performance of this garage floor paint. Despite following the instructions carefully, the paint began peeling and lifting in multiple areas just two weeks after application. Prior to applying the product: • The concrete surface was thoroughly cleaned and degreased. • I ensured it was completely dry before applying the paint. • I also avoided any traffic, water exposure, or heavy items on the surface during and after the curing period, as recommended. However, the paint has already started delaminating, particularly in areas where no unusual wear or load has occurred. The failure appears to be due to poor adhesion, despite proper surface preparation. There were no temperature or humidity extremes at the time of application. As you can see in the attached photos: • The paint is peeling off in sheets and chips. • Underneath the peeled paint, the concrete remains intact and clean, indicating the product did not bond as expected. • This issue has occurred in a low-traffic area, confirming it’s not a result of abrasion or misuse.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Q: Can it be applied in the winter

1 Answer
  • Black&DeckerPaintSupport

A: Hello, the product should be used indoors and as long as the floor temperature remains above 18 degrees celsius, the floor is verified for humidity, prepared and cleaned as per the instructions on the label all will work properly. Please note that our delays are based on the floor being at 20 degrees celsius the product is Dry to the touch — 1 to 2 h To circulate — 24 h Hot tires — 7 days. Thank you

Q: Would this work for a sealing a sauna floor, worried about off gasing?

1 Answer
  • Black&DeckerPaintSupport

A: Unfortunately, this product may not be the best choice for your project due to the high humidity it will be exposed to, as this could impact its durability. I recommend a 2-component MVB epoxy, which is better suited to withstand the high humidity conditions in a sauna.

Q: Can you add metallic tint ?

1 Answer
  • Black&DeckerPaintSupport

A: Unfortunately, the product is already pre-mixed, meaning it isn't designed to incorporate a metallic tint. If you still wish to proceed with adding one, we can't assure the outcome. However, if you're aiming for a glossier shine, you can apply a clear coat over our product after it has fully dried.

Q: CanI use this on cement that has been painted? Do I need to fill the cracks and sand the floor first ?

1 Answer
  • Black&DeckerPaintSupport

A: Yes, this product can be used on painted cement. However, proper surface preparation is essential before applying the product. Here are the steps you need to follow: 1. Clean the surface using a concrete cleaner or a garage floor cleaner. 2. Sand the surface to dull the finish of the previous paint. This will help the new product adhere better to the surface. 3. Remove the sanding dust. 4. Optionally, fill any cracks on your concrete floor for a more uniform finish. While not mandatory, this step is recommended as the product may not be thick enough to fill cracks. If you choose to fill cracks, ensure they are fully dry before applying the paint. 5. Finally, you're ready to apply the product to your concrete floor!

Q: Can this be used on a small porch and steps that is previously painted?

1 Answer
  • Black&DeckerPaintSupport

A: Hi, Unfortunately, we do not recommend using this product for outdoor applications. The epoxy component inside makes the surface hard but not flexible enough to withstand the fluctuations in temperature during winter and spring. This could lead to cracking of the paint. Instead, I would recommend our Porch and Floor paint for your project. It's made with acrylic and urethane, providing flexibility and resistance to temperature changes. You won't need a primer, even if the surface is already painted. However, proper surface preparation is essential. Here are the steps you should follow: 1. Clean the surface thoroughly using a good suitable porch cleaner. 2. Lightly sand the surface to remove any glossiness. You don't need to sand down everything, just enough to provide a good surface for the paint to adhere to. 3. Remove all sanding dust. 4. You'll be ready to start painting after completing these steps!

Q: Can you do a Second coat and if so when?. The can says one coat but I’d like to do two if it won’t undermine the coating.

1 Answer
  • A: Yes to second coat after minimum 24 hours in good drying conditions. Best to wait 48 hours (some environments are cold and damp and can delay curing)

Q: Can this product be applied over a cement floor that has previously been treated with a sealer

1 Answer
  • A: Each sealer is unique and some might require a light sanding to scuff the sheen. We suggest making a test over at small inconspicuous area before applying over the full surface.

Q: Is this product good for also waterproofing a furnace room floor to prevent moisture wicking up from under the floor?

1 Answer
  • A: This product is a good finishing coat over a moisture vapour barrier primer but it won’t replace it.

Q: Can this be used directly on plywood as well?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes, it can. However, if the plywood is exposed to the elements and seasons outside, we recommend using the Porch+Floor product instead (Product 048-9028 Beige & 048-9025 Grey). It is more flexible and resilient to temperature changes compared to epoxy-based resins. For indoor use, there is no problem with either one.
