I like it but it is bigger than expected. Also harder to clean because of the shape. Does great rice though.

Black&Decker a amĆ©liorĆ© leur Ć©tuveuse.1- L'Ć©lĆ©ment chauffant est plus puissant (l'eau bouille rapidement) 2- Le rĆ©cipient qui reƧoit les aliments est plus gros et le plastique est de meilleur qualitĆ© que l'ancienne gĆ©nĆ©ration. 3 - L'endroit oĆ¹ l'on met l'eau (trou) est maintenant placĆ© Ć  l'arriĆØre mais juste au dessus du cordon Ć©lectrique donc attention de ne pas verser trop d'eau Ć  la fois. 4 - La garantie est maintenant de 2 ANS ET CE ƉCHANGEABLE au magasin C.T. avec votre facture. 5 - Malheureusement le couvercle a maintenant 2 orifices aux extrĆ©mitĆ©s donc plus de danger de se brĆ»ler ,de plus il devient trĆØs chaud et il s'accumule de l'eau sur le rebord du rĆ©ceptacle. C'est pourquoi j'ai mis 4 Ć©toiles a cause du danger de brĆ»lures accrues. Mais je recommande le produit parce que B&D ĆØ tout de mĆŖme amĆ©liorĆ© le produit.

This is a very good food steamer. I bought it because I am beginning to appreciate the befefits of foods (especially vegetables) cooked without oil. It works!

The picture on the box is deceiving. It's all cheap plastic, no glass at all. Works OK, but wouldn't suggest buying it.

  • A: The general operating principle of all of our steamers is the same, so all of our 4 quart steamers offer essentially the same performance. However, adding more steaming baskets can impact performance.

Q: Why does the steamer make a clock ticking sound? I don't know if it's broken or not what, but my steamer makes a clock ticking sound. Is it normal?

Q: Could it lead to leaking ot BPA or other chemicals into food?

  • A: Yes. But actually any food that contains a solvent or acid/base that destabilizes the chemicals used to build the container can do this. For example, acidic juices react with metal containers. So the question is how concerned you are about BPA vs. other chemicals. Currently, evidence is not clear if BPA replacements are safe, either: they work in a similar way. So "BPA-free" plastics may not provide any benefit. My advice if you are concerned about BPA is to replace your steamer's basket with a food-grade glass/stainless steel/aluminum container. There are not many BPA-free steamers, and they don't have good reliability as far as I have seen.

Q: Could this steamer be used to make a traditional Christmas or carrot pudding? Traditional recipes call for the pudding to be steamed anywhere from 2-8 hours.

  • A: I wouldn't recommend it for that. The food container section is not very robust. Also, the timer only goes up to 75 minutes and cannot be disengaged.
