Broke knob

Love this torch .. but the knob is plastic and its fitted on ... after a wuil3 of using the knob started slipping .. now it can not even turn the torch gas on .

Save your receipt - this will break

I bought this torch 2 years ago for lighting my beekeeping smoker, and I used it about once per month. It worked great while it worked. Within a year, it stopped igniting and I had to manually light it, but it kept working. Last month it stopped working completely but ironically now the sparker works - the knob that controls the flow of propane doesn't work.
Plenty of propane in the tank. It was manufactured over 3 years ago, and I didn't save the receipt to prove I purchased it just over 2 years ago, so I am in the market for a new torch, and it will not be this one.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: How is it refilled?

A: Hi Allen,This torch is used with either a 14.1 oz Propane cylidner ( blue cylinder) or a 16.4 oz propane cylinder (Green cylinder). Unfortunately these cylinders are not refillable. Faheem Schroeder

Q: Trigger function, culinary uses? Does the unit turn off when the trigger is released, or do you have to close the gas valve? Can this product be used for culinary purposes? eg. creme brulee

A: The MagTorch Self-Lighting Torch does not turn off when the trigger is released, and has to be shut off by closing the gas valve. As to whether these units can be used for culinary purposes, they were not specifically designed for that end use. Our Iroda PT-200 Butane Torch (058-7503) is what is often used for crème brulee.
