Very disappointed in my purchase of the Autosol Metal Polish, especially for the price of it!!! It did very little to remove the rust. I purchased it because my usual go-to product was not in stock.

Questions

1 - 2 of 2 Questions

Q: How do you remove the black residue from the metal surface after you have polished the metal surface ? I cannot use water as it promotes further oxidation and acetone leaves a black residue leaving the surface more grey and less bright silver.

  • A: When my polishing gets to the point where you have stated, I take a soft cloth (like an old towel) and keep on polishing until the Black is gone. To me the Black film means that the metal polish is still working.

Q: What's the best way to apply this? Should you rinse after? I wanted to polish the chrome parts on my vintage bike but it left a haze that was hard to remove, so I washed it and applied wax after. Just want to get some feedback if this is the right way to use this product.

  • A: The product is designed to leave a light protective coating. Rinsing is not necessary as this will remove the coating but if a haze is visible it can be removed by additional buffing with a clean cloth.
