Little Pump

I purchased this battery powered pump for a window well that occasionally fills with water during very heavy rainfalls. Have not used it for that purpose yet, but test in pail of water and it worked well!

Won't pump up to a higher level
a year ago
I needed to pump standing water (about two inches deep) off my flooded basement floor into a laundry tub drain. The description for this pump said that it would pump vertically up to forty inches. It won't - not even close. I am returning the pump. This might be a good portable pump for some problems, but not if you have to pump higher than twenty inches.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: The pump will effectively remove water to about 3/8” from the bottom.

Q: During power outages would I be able to drain my basement with this IF I attached a garden hose to the pump's drain hose? This height would exceed 40 inches, but would be solely vertical. Would the water climb as the pump runs until it hits gravity?

A: No, it does not have enough power to push vertically more than 40 inches. It is powered by D batteries. As stated it is good for pumping water out of small boats or low sided pools only.
