I have tried a number of pet friendly ice melting products and this one is by far my favourite. Why? Quite simply these products were all little pebbles or pellets which go right through my deck thus not doing what it was purchased for. Alaskan Pet Friendly is granular like road salt. This is the only pet friendly ice melter I buy.

A: Hi John, Alaskan Ice Melter ice not recommended for use on wooden decks. Here is a complete list of surfaces that are not recommended for use. Alaskan® Premium Ice Melter is not recommended on the following surfaces: Concrete that is less than 1 year old Patterned, stamped and/or coloured concrete Stone or brick masonry (including flagstone) Precast concrete (steps or paving stones) Stone or concrete surfaces that are chipped, cracked, spalled or have exposed aggregate Wooden surfaces such as decks Roofs or gutters
