Why have two one when does the trick. Great idea to combine these into one device. Bought as a gift for the person who usually cooks turkey dinner. They loved it and it works great. Don't forget to check if it's in C or F though haha.

Q: What type of metal is the braided cord of the probe made of? Is it water/liquid proof?

A: I do not know the exact material, more than likely stainless since it does not melt. It is definitely waterproof. I have used it in the rain while cooking on my BBQ/Smoker. It does go through batteries pretty quickly.
