Not suited as a replacement
The access panel for wiring is on the rear and has to be replaced before you attach it to the wall. If you're working with cable that doesn't have at least a foot of play (which is rare) it's impossible to do this.
The dimensions stated in the other Q&A's are incorrect, these units are much smaller.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Garrison needs to upgrade engineering
This heater is easy to install only if you can get the cover screws out. Installed 6 of these heaters, they work good , but had to really work at removing the front panel ( to mount the heater to the wall) one heater was impossible to remove just one screw. Poor choice of screw on Garrisons part. Another issue is they state the heater has to be installed 6" from the floor, who does that? It's a convection heater therefore cool air is drawn from the floor and heated to be release from the top. The heaters would look stupid 6" off the floor. Also the manual in the box states not for use in washrooms, yet all advertising on websites state good for washrooms. I think Garrison needs to review their own product!
Yes, I recommend this product.

Not bad heaters *DO work with wall thermostat*
12 years ago
I have had two of the 1500watt heaters installed in my basement using the onboard thermostat without issue for over a year. They are much more aesthetically pleasing then my older ones. They do hum and tick a bit, but my old ones cracked and popped just the same, louder iirc. The previous poster stating these cannot be used with a wall mounted thermostat is wrong. I called and verified with Canadian tire, to use a wall mounted thermostat you just install as per instructions however set the built in thermostat to max, thereby when the wall mounted thermostat kicks on, the heater comes on as normal.
I also have 2 500 watt heaters and have had no issue with them either.
I also got these on sale 60% off, and a further 15% cash back on a promotion while using my Canadian tire Mastercard. How can you go wrong for that price??
Yes, I recommend this product.

False advert
I bought this to be hooked up to a wall thermostat. Which was stated by Canadian tire. which I found out was false after searching on the internet.
In the Canadian tire Q&A states to call Garrison. I did and found out that they don't support it. So now I have to return the heater.
All rating is based on Canadian tires info on the product.

Q: heaters (500w garrison baseboard) are reading that they are in work/travel mode, how do i fix this, they are giving no heat. please help, its cold
10 years ago
1 Answer
A: That is the 'working indicator' light. Rotate the temperature control knob away from the OFF position, and the heater will be started. Use the knob to set the desired temperature. When the ambient temperature (visible on the LED display) is lower than the setting temperature, the heater starts
to work, and the indicator goes on; when it is higher than the setting temperature, the heater will stop working and the indicator will go out.

Q: Do the Garrison baseboard heaters have a reset button? What happens if the Thermal Cutoff is activated? How do I get it to work again?
1 Answer
A: This heater is intended for wall-mounted and indoor use only. This heater has thermal cut-off protection. If the thermal cut-off protection trips, it will switch off the power. The unit should reset automatically after 10 minutes. If the thermal cut-off protection trips again, attempt to identify the reason for overheating.

A: When the customer turns off the built in thermostat, the unit is not 100% power-off. If the customer wants to turn off the unit completely, we would suggest the customer to turn off the heater through thermostat to ensure it is turn off completely.
