Excellent, except for the straw

I purchased the white lithium grease to lube a bathroom exhaust fan. Worked well but the straw was useless, it would not stay put.

Snow blower gearbox

I went on the internet to find the best grease to fill the auger gearbox. The lithium grease was the easiest to use, since you can insert the fill tube fairly deep in the gearbox, while the heavy oil alternative would be trickier, because of the restricted access space. It was very easy to do.

Q: is this good for old rusted bike gears

2 Answers
  • A: I would try WD-40 first, white lithium grease will sling a lot and get on your legs when you ride.

Q: Can I use this in my car door lock to lubricate AND keep it from freezing? tks

2 Answers
  • A: I use this on both my door locks and hinges, as well as pad locks.  The grease itself won’t freeze, and it acts as a water displacement and rust inhibitor. So it should prevent frozen locks.

Q: Can you use this specifically on the garage door big spring and pulleys?

2 Answers
  • A: Not used on the spring and pulleys. That is a waste and misuse of the product. It is used on the rails, guides wheels and hinges on the garage door. Just use silicone to prevent rusting on the spring, pulleys and cables.

Q: Can this be used to grease the auger shaft on my snowblower?

2 Answers
  • A: Yes, as long as it is restricted to metal-to-metal contact areas then it should be fine. White lithium grease has good water repelling properties but could wear down synthetic rubber and plastic more quickly by dissolving plastic/petroleum materials.

Q: Can I use this to lubricate the bearings of a cup and cone type of bottom bracket in a bicycle?

2 Answers
  • A: No. It is too thin. I would use something like MotoMaster Low Temperature Extreme Pressure Grease (028-0881-8): water resistant and low staining (= easy cleanup).

Q: Has anyone used this to spray on car battery terminals? Does it work well for that purpose or should someone use a dedicated car terminal protectant spray instead?

1 Answer
  • A: When protecting car battery terminals, it is typically recommended to use a petroleum jelly or silicone grease type compound. Using the 3-IN-ONE Professional White Lithium Grease product for this application will protect from corrosion if this is a concern. However, the advantage of using a petroleum jelly or silicone grease is that they are typically clear and don’t leave a white film behind.

Q: Leaf springs; yay or nay? PS. I've looked at brake "silicone-based" grease & graphite grease--now there is a white lithium grease. they are all suggested for leaf springs; how do I make up my mind? I also assume grease will last longer than lube right?

1 Answer
  • A: Good morning! Well, I’ve some good news & some not quite bad news. I do not know the answer about applying grease to leaf springs & to be sure, simply visit your local mechanic for that answer. Personally lithium is a far superior grease compared to oil that will out  perform oil. So logically speaking, lithium appears the better choice. But certain things respond to some jobs as to others. Bottomline check with your mechanic beforehand.

Q: Is this a food grade lubricant? I want to use it on oven’s door latch.

1 Answer
  • A: This product is not a food grade lubricant. For this application, the WD-40 Specialist Dirt & Dust Resistant Dry Lube PTFE Spray (038-8090-8) would be recommended, as this is a food grade product rated NSF Category H2 (#148629). H2 lubricants are considered to be food grade, but are not specifically food safe products. H2-specific lubricants are for machinery/equipment that doesn’t come in direct contact with food. It is to be used in areas where there is no possibility of direct contact with food.
