    Carreaux Enviro-Tile

Reviendrons-t-ils? Je l'espère!

    Poor Construction

I bought these tiles 'on clearance sale', so maybe Canadian Tire has realized they are garbage and are discontinuing them. Still, maybe it's not too late for me to warn you: don't bother. There were extra plastic bits and burrs everywhere which made assembly difficult. I ended up cutting lots away, including many of the connection pegs. The assembly itself (over-under) was a pain. If you DID buy the tiles, here's what I found worked best for putting them together: Build long strips first, and then put the strips together starting at one end (not the middle).

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Poor quality materials and engineering

I bought these, as many people did, for our entry porch. It's really great that the plastic is recycled, and was one reason I bought them. Unfortunately, I regret the purchase of this particular product. The quality of the plastic and the manufacturing is very low. The plastic is too soft for the pegs to mate with the holes effectively, resulting in mashed pegs that will no longer fit. Compounding this problem is the poor factory equipment, which has left little flaps of plastic sticking off the tops of the pegs and even partially covering the holes. For this system to work, the engineering has to be tight - but it certainly isn't. Finally, whatever engineers designed this product's "overlap-underlap" mating system obviously never tried putting them together. It is NOT easy. Ever tried getting cardboard box flaps to overlap-underlap? It's like that but worse, because you have to get these poorly designed pegs into their holes. A low quality, poorly engineered product.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Moi ce produit je l'utilise pour mon plancher de gym a la maison, mais je dois mets un tapis caoutchou a l'endroit ou je peux lacher les poids parterre, sinon pour le reste il est parfait avec une surface solide et donne un super fini. merci

Easy to install & looks great!

I installed these over an ugly peeling wooden deck for a really quick make-over. Just follow the instructions and get the edging as it really finishes it nicely and makes a big difference. I used the leftover tiles to make a pool skimmer box and it worked really well. Also they are a bit less at a certain big box store but with the Canadian Tire price match guarantee - problem solved! I love shopping Canadian Tire anyday!

Q: What about use for outdoors? Can these tiles be used outdoors, ie over grass, gravel, or will they unlock from each other? I am looking for an alternative to less affordable outdooring flooring for my backyard.

    • A: You definitely need a level hard surface for proper installation like the examples in the photos.

Q: Best choice? I am wondering if this is a decent product to insult against the basement cement floor so the kids can run on it and if I encounter another leak (hopefully not) will it hold up to the extra moisture (not including the regular humidity already there)?

    • A: These tiles do great with moisture it would just go right through as they are made of a rubber like vinyl product. I would not recommend running on them however as they are textured and falling could hurt little hands/knees and they could come apart - walking is cool - running not so much.

Q: Weight limit I know these won't hold a vehicle but how much weight can they withstand? Can you put these under a treadmill?

    • A: We do not recommend the Multy Tile Item under a tread mill. While they can withstand the weight, they are not made for this application. We recommend the Utility Tile instead – CTC Item # 068-7047.

Q: Will the well ventilated tiles be better on top of my flat roofing material? Helping it to dry after rains etc? My outdoor rug seems to trap moisture.

    • A: The will allow ventilation and will dry out faster than an outdoor rug. We feel it would be a better choice that an outdoor rug.

Q: Do the tiles absorb heat in the sun? I'm thinking of using them on my flat roof/deck right on top of the roofing material which gets quite hot. I'm hoping the well ventilated tiles will help the roofing material underneath dry after rains etc. vs. an outdoor rug which seems to trap moisture. What do you think? Thanks!

    1 Answer
    • A: They will definitely heat up in the sun, just like most other objects such as wood, concrete, plastic, etc. The benefit is that the design allows the air to circulate through them, and they can stay cooler than most things.
