Choosing the Right Backup Camera for Your Vehicle

Having a backup camera will help you judge the distance between your car and the object behind you. Many newer models already have a built-in rearview camera as a safety feature, but you are able to install them on older models as well.

What are the different types of backup cameras?

At Canadian Tire, we offer a selection of backup cameras, from wireless to solar powered backup cameras, rear view licence plate backup cameras, wired rear view cameras, and more.

What features should I look for in backup cameras?

One of the many features to consider when choosing a backup camera is how it will me mounted. There are license plate mounted cameras, surface-mounted cameras that come with their own mounting brackets, flush mounted cameras that are attached to the body of the car, and much more. Other features to look for include the type of image sensors it has, viewing angles, night vision, and the quality of the camera and the display.

Are wireless backup cameras best for cars?

The preference will be based on your needs, preferences, driving style, and budget. The main benefit to having a wireless backup camera is that they are easy to install and they don’t require wires to set up or operate. Compared to most wired backup cameras, they typically cost less. If you prefer a more high-quality image, consider getting a wired backup camera.

Can I put a backup camera on my truck?

Most newer models come with a backup camera already installed, but if you have an older model, you can install an aftermarket truck backup camera.
