    12 volt charger fell apart.

I bought the camera about a year ago and it has worked great. I was very happy with it until last week when the 12 V cigarette adaptor fell apart. No, I have no power for my front rear camera. I’ll contact the company and see what they’ll do for me. I’ll keep you posted. (I tried to post a photo, but the site would not let me).

    DON’T BUY

They should not charge the amount of money that they do for this camera. I got this thinking that it would be a very good camera to use for my car as I don’t like driving without a dash camera. The first week of being installed within my car it completely would not turn on no matter what I did to try and turn it back on. I then took my car back to the guy who installed the dash cam for me and it started working again once he did something to help. A few weeks after it then started freezing, flickering, and coming off and on. Luckily I still had my receipt and I just ended up taking it back to Canadian tire to do a exchange for the Thinkware Q200 Dash Camera, and that dash that I have now is way better than the reload dash camera and is worth the money. So just save yourself time, energy, and frustration with this reload dash camera.

No, I do not recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Q: What's the video quality like for the front and back cameras? Can you easily make out the license plates of cars in front and behind you during the day and night ? Is there any glare from brake lights, especially when recording at night?

    3 Answers
    • A: If you freeze frame the video at the right spot you can read the plate # from approx. a car length away during daylight hours on the front camera. I have not used the rear facing camera nor have I any video in the dark.

Q: Can you use the rear camera as a back up camera?

    2 Answers
    • A: Both the rear and front backing up as long as chip capacity allows. Then automatically delete older videos and replacing them with new ones.

Q: Does the car have to be running for this camera to record? we are dealing with an issue of vandalism and need a dash camera that will record when the power on the car is off.

    2 Answers
    • A: Mine runs only when I am driving. I didn’t find any option for that in this dash cam. It’s capacity is not that much. It records videos of 2 minutes, 3 minutes and 5 minutes. Once capacity is full it deletes automatically the older videos.

Q: Can we install it on our own or do we need a mechanic to get this installed , can it be installed in 2014 rav 4?

    • A: Yes, you can install the cameras on your own. The most difficult thing is figuring out where you want to put the wires going to the rear camera.

Q: Is there parking sensor recording?

    2 Answers
    • A: There is a motion detection setting you can turn on and if it has power it will record any movement for a minute and then turn off

Q: To use motion detection, the car needs to be parked while the cameras still have power. It seems there is no cable provided to connect to the car's power directly. How do others use the motion detection mode and is there a cable it available for parking?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hi There, When Motion Detection is on, the camera will start recording when it detects any motion within its FOV (field of view). Once the camera does not detect any movement within 1 minute, it will stop recording and return to "Motion Detection" mode. Recording will resume if any new motion is detected. This function saves storage space by recording fewer still images. And the "Parking Mode" you mentioned means that when the vehicle is turned off and parked. The car battery provides uninterrupted power for the camera to record any movement within the FOV (field of view). And when the vehicle collides, it can automatically lock the recorded before and after the collision Video to prevent it from being overwritten by looping video for subsequent viewing or claims. This feature requires an additional cable to connect directly to the car battery and requires additional software support. Currently Reload products do not support this feature.

Q: i have a 2008 dodge ram 1500- i like this unit but before purchase need to know if i can run either the front camera only or the back by itself-also can the rear camera be relocated from rear of truck to rear of trailer

    1 Answer
    • A: The rear camera can not be working alone as it has to be connected to the front camera by Ethernet cable to get power. You may choose to have the front/rear/dual recording images. To mount the rear camera to the rear of trailer depends on 2 conditions: 1. Make sure the 20ft Ethernet cable is long enough to connect to the rear of your trailer. 2. The paths the wires go through and where the rear camera is installed should be waterproof as this product is designed to be used in car.
