I have the Y hooked up to my new hose and then to my roof top wildfire suppression nozzle. It was handy to drain the new hose after pressure and flow testing. Very cool set up even though I don't really use my existing hose much (I have mostly Canadian Tire turf for lawn and try to avoid watering my decorative plants except with rain catcher water).
