Yardworks High Performance Ice Melter provides powerful ice and snow melting for walkways and driveways. Formulated with calcium chloride, this 10 kg fast acting ice melter begins working immediately to clear surfaces down to -31°C. The highly visible blue colour indicates treated areas to avoid overapplication. Long lasting and effective in extreme cold, Yardworks Ice Melter requires fewer reapplications, saving time and money. Simply apply the ice melter directly to existing ice and snow or as an anti-icing pre-storm treatment for maximum convenience.

Questions
Q: Is this pet friendly. Don’t see any info on that
3 years agoA: This product is not considered pet friendly as it contains calcium Chloride. Calcium Chloride helps reach the lower melt temperatures but it is a product that will react with moisture, including the moisture in your skin or the pet’s paws. When it reacts with moisture it creates heat but it can also irritate the skin. We recommend wearing gloves when applying it, and we would also caution not to use it in areas where pets would be walking around.

Q: Is this product safe for concrete and vegetation?

A: This ice melter is safer to use on good quality concrete surfaces, as long as used as directed on the packaging. Do not use on concrete less than 1 year old. Do not over apply and be sure to remove slush and melted ice to avoid freeze/thaw cycle. Because this product contains Calcium Chloride it is not recommended for use around vegetation.

A: While this product contains ingredients that are safer for pets, it is still recommended to watch animals to ensure they are not eating or licking this product and to wipe paws after walking through it. The Yardworks PawProtect ice melter is also a great alternative that does not contain any salt or chlorides and is even safer to use around pets.

A: No, Yardworks High Performance Ice Melter is not recommended to use on wooden deck and stairs as it contains calcium chloride which could have an adverse effect on wood.
