    busted

First off. I will admit i've had this for approximately five years. That being said, I only use it in pre. Tilled flower beds raised beds. It stopped working. Heard a snap, Now the tiller is useless. 8 amps is not enough even for pre tilled soil, You need to continually lift it up to get it spinning again At a workable speed

No, I do not recommend this product.

Hello flyer - Thank you for taking the time to share your review on the 8A Tiller. This unit is perfect of smaller project around the yard to help create the perfect garden bed. It may take several passes over the same path in order to reach the desired depth. Do not try to dig too deep on the first pass. If the tiller/cultivator jumps or bucks, allow it to move forward at a slightly faster pace. In order to dig more deeply, lift up on the handlebar pushing the front harder into the ground. Apply downward pressure on the handlebar, pulling unit down towards you for more shallow cultivating. If the tiller/cultivator stays and digs in at one spot, try rocking it from side to side in order to start it moving forward again. If the soil is very hard, water it a few days before cultivating. Avoid working soil that is soggy or wet. Wait a day or two after heavy rain for the ground to dry. We are sorry to hear you have experienced this, we would like to hear how this occurred. Although you are past the two-year warranty, please have your model number ready and contact us directly so we can look further into the matter and help locate any parts that may be in stock.

Flower Garden: Good <> Grass: I'll Pass

This is my 2nd spring season with this little tiller. I use it a couple times a year for cleaning up around flowers and shrubs in our numerous flower beds. It works very well on exposed soil or earth that has limited vegetation and after a couple passes can bury itself 6" plus into the ground. It's most effective when the wheels are removed, (this is done easily with the pull of 1 small knob). It will NOT easily till areas with extensive root material like your lawn or a field. It tends to just skip across these, having difficulty penetrating the surface. It will also bind up when exposed to large amounts of tall grass, etc. It's perfect for my needs, but inadequate for large thickly grassed areas.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

    Questions

    1 - 3 of 3 Questions

Q: I bought this tiller but can't put it together. It was purchased at the Winnipeg Regent store. It is a demo and came unassembled and with no owners manual. Where can I get a manual and information about how to put it together?

    • A: I just started using this tiller. The blades have to be mounted in the correct order. The 2 outer bladed have the cutting surfaces angled to one side only. They are mounted last with the blades facing in. The inner bladed have cutting surfaces angled out on both sides. The blade is mounded to one side of an axle sleeve. Slide the blade side first over the axles. The will allow both center blades to overlap in the middle. I hope this helps.

Q: Proper way to install tines I have a question regarding the proper installation of the tines. Should they point out or in? Instructions show in & pictures show out? Which is the proper way? Do I need to return the product?

    1 Answer
    • A: The tines are labelled A,B,C,D. Looking at the tiller from the front, this is how you install them, from LEFT to RIGHT. Each tine has a directional arrow, they spin forward. So install them with the arrows forward, a,b,c,d. It will make sense if you try this. There is a felt washer inbetween A-B, and C-D also.
