Defective product

The snowblower I got was defective. Never worked! After fully charging the batteries, it can turn the light on and rotate the chute but the motor does not start. I picked it up 10 days ago and I would rather return it for a refund but instead will have to go through customer services for repairs through the warranty since it is now opened!

Not made for all Canadian winters

I bought this snowblower 2 weeks ago and after just 2 small storms I knew right away this thing was useless. This snowblower might be good for clearing freshly soft snow but as soon as it’s hardened or wet this machine is absolutely useless. First storm we got it was mostly soft snow and the machine did a decent job even though you have to push it with a good amount of force for it to clear through the snow. The main issue I ran into was the wall of snow the snowplow pushes in front of my driveway. That snow is harder and compact. The snowblower couldn’t handle that at all and kept getting plugged up and stopped working. The second storm was got the snow was wet and dense and there was some slush. The snowblower couldn’t handle that at all. Every few feet it would plug up and stop. If it didn’t it stop it would throw the wet snow maybe half a foot away, mostly spilling onto itself.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Customer Service with AI Support
Thank you for sharing your experience with the YARDWORKS 96V Single Stage Cordless Snowblower, 21-in. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've faced. It appears that this model performs best with lighter, freshly fallen snow, but struggles with denser, compacted snow and slush. While the snowblower's design aims to provide a convenient solution for lighter snow, it can indeed encounter difficulties with heavier conditions. If you haven't already attempted to return the product, we recommend taking it to the nearest store for assistance. For further details, please feel free to contact our call center at 1-866-523-5218. Your feedback is valuable as we strive to continuously improve our products and services.

Yardworks 96V Snowblower

I've rated it mediocre, as it is the middle of July and I won't be using it until the snow falls. Am guessing it will work well as I have a couple of Yardwork items and have had no issue with either the whipper or the lawn mower. I'm excited to have it though, and will certainly rate it for you come winter.

Good little unit, weather dependent

Honestly, pretty good little unit for a single stage electric. I happen to get primarily light, dry snow and this thing makes short work of it with impressive battery life (I did my 8 car driveway and sidewalk usually on one charge this past winter). If, however, you live in eastern Canada where the snow is a bit heavier/wetter, this unit will get bogged down fairly quickly and run through batteries relatively fast. Overall, simply consider your climate before you buy it but it's great for the price for lighter/dryer snow.

  • A: Hello Brad, Thank you for your questions. This tool will not be self propelled and it would have a standard push mower. Since the tool had a 96V motor it would require two 48V batteries docked on at one time to function. Thank you for choosing Yardworks!

Q: Can you put skis on it to keep it higher? My laneway is old and bumpy I get stuck everywhere with it. I need to lift it off the ground some but it's too hard to push! Just used it for the first time and there is no ajustements under it. Suggestions?

  • A: Consider tipping the tool forward while the auger is running. The rubber paddle will make contact with your driveway/surface, pulling the tool forward. This should help you navigate the tool with ease.

Q: Do the two batteries have to be the same? Just wondering if I could swap out the two 5 amp batteries with a two and a five that I have from other Yardworks tools.

  • A: I have 2ah and a 4ah Battery. I placed them in the snowblower and it operated for around 11 min. Obviously the 2ah battery died first and then the snowblower stopped operating.

Q: We have a fairly steep driveway. Wondering if this is self-propelled and will it keep going on an incline.

Q: Your manual for the Yardworks 96 V 21-in snowblower states that machine won't work if batteries colder than -20 C. In Winnipeg it gets much colder. So, can I use the machine to say -30 outside temp.

3 Answers
  • A: Hello Nashi, thank you for your question. We recommend reading the Owner's manual carefully. There is a warning that states the following:WARNING: The battery packs will be too cold to be used if they have been left in an environment with too low temperature (less than -20 degrees Celsius) for a long time. The battery packs need to be warmed up before use. Some parts of the snowblower may freeze under extreme temperature conditions. Do not attempt to operate the snowblower with frozen parts. If the parts freeze while the snowblower is in use, stop the snowblower, remove the battery, and inspect for frozen parts. Free all parts before restarting or operating the snowblower. Never force controls that have frozen. For warranty eligibility criteria and questions, please contact our Solution Center Team at 866-523-5218 Monday through Friday from 9 am until 6 pm EST. We'd be more than happy to assist you. Thank you for choosing Yardworks!- Heaven J
