It's been a life saver

Can't say enough good things about the snowblower. Bought it last year and put it to the test with some areas that were over 5 feet of snow. It handled it all really well. The electric start is a must for my wife as she couldn't use the cord to pull start it. Would highly recommend it especially when on a good sale.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Put in Gas ... go blow some snow!

Just bought this unit today and was thrilled that it was on sale. It was fully assembled and all I had to do was put in the gas. Started right up, easy to use, and does a great job clearing snow. I only gave it 4 stars as I haven't had it long enough to really know how good it may or may not be but initially, it's great.

Ready For Winter - Where is the snow

I bought this item on sale recently. When I went online to check for more specific information on the item I noticed several mistakes in the product information for this item. The information for this item indicated it had heated handles which it did not and I contacted Canadian Tire. I see that they did correct the data but now I see that there was also a difference in the throwing distance of the snow, the original copy said it was 40 ft now I see it is now listed at 30'. That is most disappointing to see with the corrected copy. I wish Canadian Tire had contacted me that there were additional errors on that item, I would have likely bought another snowblower. As to the snowblower it went together very easily and while I have tested it the electric start is a nice feature to have. As there is no snowfall of any significant amount the snowblower is waiting for its first real trial.

YARDWORKS DOES IT AGAIN!!

I have been using/repairing snowblowers for my own use since 1979. This snowblower was delivered to me recently by CTC staff. It was excellently prepared for use. I just had to add fuel. From the moment that the manual start cord was pulled, and, the machine placed into gear, I could feel the quality and power that was present. I cleaned 3 driveways with ease. I love the double lockdown of the auger and drive wheel handle controls. You can control the m/c with one hand and turn the chute with the other. The m/c engine is very powerful and hums away merrily doing its job to the fullest. When I was done clearing the snow, I checked the fuel level in the gas tank. I was almost floored to discover that the tank was still just about full. I want to shout out to everyone/anyone who is about to purchase a snowblower at this present time to purchase one NOW!!! This m/c has power to spare, economy, reliability and quality from the factory. It will do what you want it to do and much more. The price is very good also. A lot of bang for the buck. Thank You CTC for carrying such an excellent product. Oh, and by the way, may I add that MTD is behind the manufacturing of this fantastic machine. May I say more. Don't just think about purchasing one, GO FOR IT!!!! You will not be disappointed.

Yes, I recommend this product.

MTD engines all has gas filter problems

Don’t buy a snowblower with a MTD engine such as 208cc or 243cc and others as the manual instructions for winter storage won’t save you from $100+ every season in repairs as running the engine dry still won’t dry out the filter and carburetor to prevent clogging for next season. Even the warranty repair shop says this. There is a gas drain screw not referenced in the manual that should be stored removed to alloy for drying. The stabilizer won’t work if the machine is even jolted a little during summer storage. I ran the engine dry per manual and MTD won’t cover maintenance. Get your service up to date and your manual MTD!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: 208cc Gas Snowblower, how many HP is that?

1 Answer
  • A: MTD does not rate horsepower output on our gas engines. A significant percentage of the industry report CC (size of the engine cc = cubic centimeters). The industry view is that size provides a more accurate engine performance capability, versus reporting horsepower output. The engine size for this specific unit is 208cc. This is a 208cc Winterized engine, and is designed to operate optimally in Canada’s extreme winter conditions.

Q: what is the size of the gas tank on the 208 motor. As the manual indicates gasoline over 30 days old must have a fuel stabilizer added, I need to know that tank size.

1 Answer
  • A: 208cc PowerMore engine has an 1890 ml tank or 1.9 litres. Gasoline stabilizer should be added to ‘fresh’ gas. It will not revitalize OLD fuel.

Q: Is this a single stage or 2 stage snowblower?

1 Answer
  • A: When looking at the enlarged pic of the front chute I can see the input shaft going to the main augers. It appears an impeller is mounted on it so assume it is 2 stage.
