A: The battery was fully charged when we bought our machine, I can only assume it is covered for 2 years, the same as the warranty? Perhaps check with MTD customer support on 1 800 668 1238.

Q: does the stop in the ignition shut down the machine and stops draining any energy from the battery?

A: Yes it does however it is recommended with all vehicles that use a battery for ignition that you coat both "+" and "-" terminals of the battery with petroleum jelly of dielectric grease to fight off rust and corrosion and that you disconnect the negative terminal on the battery when storing for periods longer than 6 months.

Q: Performance on incline How well does this machine perform on an incline? Is there a max recommended slope?

A: Most residential riding lawn mowers have a recommended maximum incline of 15 degrees however I have mowed hills with mine much steeper by shifting my weight depending which side of the drive axle is slipping (Differential) I'm not saying that you should do this but it is possible. Make sure to never accelerate or stop abruptly on steep hills and NEVER drive perpendicular to the direction of the slope, also to avoid loss of traction do not stop while on a steep incline because you may not be able to start moving again safely.
