Q: What is the best way to store this hose when not in use? I'm concerned that it would get tangled in a reel and break easily.

A: I store it in a cheap plastic tool box, Connecting the two ends together and putting it away dry seems to help them last longer! Don’t leave out in the sun all the time they get brittle!
