This is a well built kerosene lantern that will last forever. It is built just as the ones from the 50s were. Take it from an old timer this is a good lantern.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

This lamp didn't even last 1 day! The wick adjustment knob came off and the glass broke even with delicate handling. Easy to light, but would never buy one ever again!

No, I do not recommend this product.

Overall, this lantern SHOULD NOT be compared to Coleman lanterns for obvious reasons. They are in completely different price categories. But I chose this one over the Coleman (atleast the one CT sells) because this one is simplier to use. In the event of an emergency, your ability to source Coleman branded naptha or gasoline will be harder. Kerosene is readily available, cheap, and stores for years and years. The Coleman wick is not as easy to replace either. With this cheapo lantern, you can literally use any cotten wick and it would burn. In the event of an emergency, this cheapo one shines. Pros: - burns kerosene - simple design and parts easy to replace or diy - light - cheap, i bought 3 Cons: - It would probably leak if you tilted it backwards or sideways beyond the wink horizon - i can't think of any cons - don't need to pump anything TIP for first time users: fill the kerosene, lower the wick below the methoa lip, wait for 30 minutes, then light it. You won't burn black smoke that way!

    Yes, I recommend this product.

It looks like a normal kerosene storm lantern and at first functioned perfectly, but mine was very lighty built and started leaking after being used indoors only twice, so unfortunately it went in the garbage. But it is low priced.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: can I use paraffin oil or veg oil on this lantern?

    • A: I use a mix a birch Oil at 25% to 75% paraffin oil, and it burns great and have been using the same lantern for years...but as anything you have to use with care...this style of lantern has been around for 100's of years.....
