Solid and sturdy stand

Purchased this unit today and assembled it. Was shipped 2 sets of instructions both French and no English. Missing 1 adjustble leg for the front of the stand but not a show stopper since it was on Carpet. Despite French only instructions, easy to assemble as all parts are clearly labeled including the fasterners. Whalen TV stands are fantastic as they provide you extra screws and all the hardware needed to attach many different models. The unit is sturdy whith metal frames and black glass surfaces for the shelves. This Cdn Tire website does not mention that this is the Whalen CTXL-2 model.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Would this stand hold a 55 inch TV that weighs 43 pounds?

A: Don't listen to them, I have a 60" Panasonic Plasma on it and it holds it just fine. I was worried when I bought it, but research online (Whelan's site and other forums) and I found out that it can take up to and even bigger then 65" provided the weight was not much more than 120 lbs. Mine weighs 96 lbs. It's not the size you need to worry about, it's centered on a strong bar on the back, and then you place another locking bar so it does not move. It's the weight you have to worry about. That said, this stand has been awesome for me. I highly recommend it.
