Alright lock

Bought this a few years back only changed the batteries once and started getting mechanical issues, replaced some parts, started to freeze up during the cold winter months. For the price I would of expected some longevity because I now have to replace it.

Prematurely drains batteries

I bought a "Satin Nickel Electronic Smart Key Smartcode Lever Deadbolt Lock " (model GED1450-15-MS) a few years back and it served me extremely well until recently. It now tends to drain good batteries very quickly (within a few days). I'm not happy about this. I had expected better long term service for a Weiser especially with the price of this lock that cost in excess of $150.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: how far does the handle and key pad protude from the door. we have a storm door and are worried about the handles touching

A: the specs for the Smartcode Lever, diagram “C” Outer Trim measurement shows a clearance of 2-1/2”

A: Yes, the lever is reversible, there is a set screw on the handle that is easily removed with the provided allen key, and this will allow the lever to be set left handed or right handed.
