Q: is this base strong enough to accept the recoil of a 308 caliper

A: They are made of high grade aluminum specifically for firearms. Weaver knows that firearms have recoil and have accounted for that. You may want to consider rings with 2-3 Allen key hex bolts for the top scope attachment. Some rings have a single bold top attachment, and a 308 would require more hold from the rings.

Q: What type of scope rings(see through rings will fit this base My scope is a bushnell trophy doa 600. I want to purchase see through rings so I can also use my iron sights.What rings will fit this base. I bought my scope at canadian Tire 2 weeks ago. Thank you

A: You will need 76-2248 (Weaver 49523 Rings See-Thru Det 1")......All Weaver style rings will fit the Weaver base and all Bushnell scopes fit the rings with a very small exception of very high end scopes over $700 at retail.
