I apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the OUTBOUND Drinking Water Jug Hand Press Pump, 5-Gal. It sounds like there may have been an issue with the fitting process. This pump is designed to conveniently attach to most 3-gallon (11.3 L) and 5-gallon (18.5 L) water containers.
Please ensure that the valve is attached to the side of the pump and the straws are properly connected underneath. Additionally, make sure to unscrew the lock nut, slide the pump onto the top of the water container, and then screw the lock nut tightly to secure the pump in place.

A: No, the top is designed to clamp onto the big 5 gallon water cooler jugs that you buy in the store, and doesn't even do that well.
