Super easy to set up, use and clean!

I had started painting my shed with rollers and brushes. A friend suggested I look at this sprayer. I spent 2 days brushing the grooves in the siding. then it only took about 45 minutes total spraying to finish priming. in all, I think I have about 3 hours of spraying to finish painting my shed!

A capable machine...with reservations

I bought this unit to paint a 10'x20' wood utility shed that would have been difficult to paint with conventional brush/roller methods. Initial set up is not difficult. This sprayer works quite well but there is a definite learning curve. (I should add that I have a lot of experience with automotive type spray/gun painting.) I used a very high quality exterior paint from a professional paint store recommended for outdoor applications. What I quickly learned is I had to thin the paint much more than I would normally do...actually a bit more than recommended by the paint maker. This sprayer plugs up very easily, so thorough mixing and straining is the order of the day. Once I found what the sprayer was capable of (which was a bit frustrating) the job progressed nicely. I strongly recommend starting out with a small batch initially so the paint viscosity can be more easily adjusted. This sprayer is capable of very nice work and you can cover a lot of area quickly. There are a couple cons with this machine. The hose to the gun is not very good...it is a rigid springy plastic that always tries to coil itself back up. It works...but a better quality hose would be appreciated. Second, cleanup is no fun. I painted my shed on a unusually warm fall day so that caused paint to dry rather quickly. You have to clean up every speck of dried paint or it will plug the gun nozzle. The many little nooks and crannies all over this unit makes clean up very tedious. Overall I like the sprayer...for the price range it's capable of good quality work but it's not something I would want to use every day.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Unit is easy to set up and use.

I bought this as I needed to get some exterior work painted before the weather turned on me. It worked great and sped the process up tremendously. And the coverage was great. Also able to paint right up to the trim with minimal overspray.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Impressive Paint Sprayer - Perfect for the DIYer!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently used my Wagner Control Pro 130 Paint Sprayer to paint some interior rooms and a hallway in my daughter’s house that she recently purchased. Once set up and priming is done, the Wagner Control Pro 130 Paint Sprayer performed excellently with a smooth even finish laying down the paint nicely with little overcoating. The generous 1.5 gallon paint hopper allows you to work efficiently without a lot of stops to refill. In my case, I do not have a spray paint shield so I did the area where the ceiling and wall meet with brush and roller as well as the wall base. As with any paint sprayer, overspray is an issue and The Wagner Control Pro 130 Paint Sprayer is no exception, so be sure to shut off the HVAC and cover anything you do not want painted. Cleanup is a bit tedious and messy with a bit of paint loss in the process. However, this is a small price to pay for how efficient and effective the spraying process is over hand rolling and I assume the cleanup process would be about the same for any paint sprayer. Bottom Line - The Wagner Control Pro 130 Paint Sprayer performed flawlessly and provided professional results at a fraction of the cost of other commercial type paint sprayers. I look forward to my next project with my Wagner Control Pro 130 Paint Sprayer. As with any power tool, be sure to read and follow the enclosed use and safety instructions before use.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Good sprayer for small jobs

Works great! Takes a little work to get it primed. Would be nice to have control over the amount of paint coming out and also a swivel connection on the gun but overall works very well

Questions

1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Q: Can this be used to spray Red oxide primer & rust paint? (Tremclad, Rustoleum, Krylon) If so, does it require thinning?

2 Answers
  • A: Depends on the spray tip you choose. I used it for sold stain on a fense, the typical stain tip had too small of an opening to not clog repeatedly, if the rust paint is thin the stain tip may be fine, but it will clog if you try to use too small of a tip.

A: That's fine except for the salt. Salt is very corrosive and we do not suggest putting it through the machine.

Q: Can I use this paint sprayer to apply Thompson Waterseal - clear wood sealer on an exterior wooden fence ? Also , how do I clean up the connecting hose, and how much paint cleaner solvent is needed for each clean-up?

1 Answer
  • WagnerSprayTech

A: Yes you can easily spray water seal with the Control Pro 130 and the included 515 tip. A smaller tip might be preferable in order to control the amount of application. Check with Thompson's tech for the proper airless sprayer tip size. If you're using water based products, clean up is easy with a garden hose. If you're using oil-based products you should have two gallons of mineral spirits on hand, just in case. But you can clean the entire kit with less than a gallon.

Q: I am going to be finishing the interior of a log home with Benjamin Moore Stays Clear acrylic polyurethane. It requires 1500 - 2000 psi and a tip size of .011-.015. Is it a good idea to spray polyurethane? Can this sprayer handle this product?

1 Answer
  • WagnerSprayTech

A: Yes, this is the perfect sprayer for your project. Less overspray than traditional airless tools and it still gets the job done fast. Make sure to cover or remove anything you don't want polyurethane on. Good luck with your project.
