Control Pro 130 Power Tank Sprayer

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Control Pro 130 Power Tank Sprayer is one of the best paint spray products that I have ever used. I really like the built in tank that hold 1.5 gallons that keeps everything in one place when having to move but you really don't have to move it very much with the 25 foot long hose. It also has a cover to keep debris and dust out of the paint. The spray gun is very easy to hold and control and really makes spraying a room effortless. This project took my about 20 minutes spray and was so easy. You just cant go wrong with Wagner products.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Saved the weekend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This came in handy as a back up sprayer to complete a northern property we have. It was used to spray a log cabin that was previously hand primed. Put down even coats of paint and did not seem to have an excessive amount of overspray. I did switch out the hose and spray gun for a longer hose and a two finger spray gun with an extension to make getting under the eaves a little easier. Our original Graco sprayer had quit working and this did a good job of finishing more than 1/3 of the project we had to complete. It definitely felt cheaply made compared to the Graco sprayer, and the capacity was quite inconvenient versus sitting over the top of a 5 gallon bucket of paint. Thanks to the sprayer we were able to get the job done without any hiccups cleanup was pretty easy in comparison to any other airless sprayer.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Wagner Control Pro 130

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently used the Wagner Control Pro 130 and was really impressed with how much time it saved. The spray pattern is smooth and consistent, and it puts out a nice even coat without a lot of overspray. Setup was straightforward and the machine is beginner-friendly, even if you’ve never used a sprayer before. The only downside is that cleanup takes a bit of patience, but that’s expected with any paint sprayer. Once you get the routine down, it’s not too bad. Overall, the Control Pro 130 delivers great results for the price and made my project look professionally done.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Iron Porch Railing Project

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I got the Control Pro 130, I was very excited to take on a neglected project at my home. I wanted to repaint the iron railing at my front door for years but was not interested in brushing the project. While I have sprayed projects before, I was particularly interested in the 130's claim to up to a 55% reduction in over spray. Even with that as a selling point, I attempted to mask an appropriate area to avoid as much over spray as possible. The Control Pro 130 is very easy to set up and the directions are very easy to follow. The spray gun is very intuitive to use and I did not have any trouble preparing the sprayer for use. I liked the coverage that I got with the supplied spray tip, though, in retrospect, I think I would prefer a smaller fan for similar projects in the future. I sprayed two coats overall and I was very pleased with the quality of the application. I was, however, a bit disappointed with the over spray as my expectation was not realized. I will have a little clean-up to do, mostly because I did not extend my masking far enough, but I believed with the Control Pro 130's selling point of less over spray, I was well prepared. Overall, the sprayer did a great job in applying paint. I was a little dismayed with how much over spray there actually was.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Fantastic for large and outside jobs

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very easy to setup. I like that it came with everything needed to get started - no special tools or nozzles required. I had to paint 6 outside doors last weekend (it was windy) - west central Alabama and about 80°. I used a urethane acrylic from S. Williams (had to thin it). I like that this unit was so easy to setup and once it is primed all you have to do is basically add paint and get-r-done. This unit is extremely easy to use and would absolutely use it again, without question.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

1 - 9 of 9 Questions

Q: Can this be used to spray Red oxide primer & rust paint? (Tremclad, Rustoleum, Krylon) If so, does it require thinning?

2 Answers
  • A: Depends on the spray tip you choose. I used it for sold stain on a fense, the typical stain tip had too small of an opening to not clog repeatedly, if the rust paint is thin the stain tip may be fine, but it will clog if you try to use too small of a tip.

A: That's fine except for the salt. Salt is very corrosive and we do not suggest putting it through the machine.

Q: Can I use this paint sprayer to apply Thompson Waterseal - clear wood sealer on an exterior wooden fence ? Also , how do I clean up the connecting hose, and how much paint cleaner solvent is needed for each clean-up?

1 Answer
  • WagnerSprayTech

A: Yes you can easily spray water seal with the Control Pro 130 and the included 515 tip. A smaller tip might be preferable in order to control the amount of application. Check with Thompson's tech for the proper airless sprayer tip size. If you're using water based products, clean up is easy with a garden hose. If you're using oil-based products you should have two gallons of mineral spirits on hand, just in case. But you can clean the entire kit with less than a gallon.

Q: I am going to be finishing the interior of a log home with Benjamin Moore Stays Clear acrylic polyurethane. It requires 1500 - 2000 psi and a tip size of .011-.015. Is it a good idea to spray polyurethane? Can this sprayer handle this product?

1 Answer
  • WagnerSprayTech

A: Yes, this is the perfect sprayer for your project. Less overspray than traditional airless tools and it still gets the job done fast. Make sure to cover or remove anything you don't want polyurethane on. Good luck with your project.
