The variable temp settings is a extra feature I wasn’t looking for however, it has proven to be convenient. I am still on the learning curve with how to utilize these features. I would have purchased the other model of Paderno but it was sold out.

It boils water and then chirps at you.

It's a nice kettle and seems to be a decent step up from our previous, cheap Master Chef one that only lasted a couple years. Not sue we'll have much use for the temperature settings as who can be that particular about their tea or coffee?! Let's be honest, we just want the maximum caffeine hit extracted at the highest possible temperature in the shortest amount of time in order crack our eyelids open in order to get on with our day. I defy anyone to tell me they can tell a difference between their half-caf, flat-white, oat-milk, latte was made with 90 degree water versus 100 degree water. No, you cannot. Now move on with your day. Oh, and this kettle likes to beep - a lot. You can turn the beeps off by simultaneously holding the ON and +/- keys for about 3 seconds. However, there doesn't seem to be any way of defeating the annoyingly happy "I'm done" double beeps when it has completed its job short of defenestrating it. If you're prone to also boiling over when your kettle does and chirps happily at you for a job well done, then you may want to consider a different kettle.

A: I'm not sure I totally understand the question.but it does have plastic at the bottom of the kettle that connects with the base. It is not entirely glass. We are happy enough with it.

A: I didn't do an exact measurement, but the cord's a little longer than two feet. You can coil some of it up in the base, though, to help with counter space.
