This trap is very powerful and is triggered by moving a plastic bed to release the copper wire. If the trap accidently snaps or just snaps it rips the plastic bed therefore you cannot reset the trap just like the smaller mouse ones with the yellow bed. Won't buy this one again

Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry the Victor Wide Pedal Snap Rat Trap was difficult to set. For easier setup, place the trap on a flat, stable surface and use the included setting mechanism to carefully pull the kill bar back until it locks securely into place. Keep your fingers clear of the trigger area while setting the trap. If the trap does not lock into position, check that the kill bar and pedal are aligned properly and free of debris. Positioning the trap along a wall or in an area where rat activity is visible can also help with overall performance. We hope these tips help you get the trap properly set and working as intended.

Q: Is this rat trap large enough to kill a squirrel

A: I killed a couple of squirrels with the rat trap. I needed to cut a couple of inches of a 750ml soda bottle to make an arch that blocks the side of the spring and forces the squirrel to come in straight on. The arch needs to be high enough to allow the spring to clear.

A: No the hole is to small for a squirrel to fit. Try Victors Quick Set Quick Kill snap traps or rat traps.

Q: I have a rodent in my house, only saw it for a split second, not sure what it is. Will this trap kill smaller rodents as well? I don't want to set mouse traps in case I have a rat. Are rat traps my best bet in this situation?

A: This trap may kill smaller rodents however, depending on the size of the rodent, it may not be enough to set off the trap.

Q: I have squirrels and a rat. I just purchased the rat trap. Scared to set it :( , however I don’t want the squirrels to get hurt. You say they eat with their paws? I just want to make sure that is true. Thanks
