VHT Never Disappoints

VHT is always the go to for automotive paints. Their black wrinkle covers very well, and dries in a nice wrinkle textured finish. Prep well, and spray. If there is any small imperfections, it will cover, and hide it well.

I've grown quite frustrated with this product. Follow directions: too thin, doesn't wrinkle. Too thick, runs or creates weird thick wrinkles. I've shot my valve cover three times now and I've reduced myself to trying to do it in parts. Only one part has actually performed as expected. The product is not very effective if you have a complex part. Look at those with success, all flat or simple shapes. Probably works great if you're spraying a SBC350 valve cover, but if you cover has many recesses or protrusions it is a nightmare. I am currently stripping the entire cover off for the second time and will give it one more try before I never touch this product again - noting that I am not a beginner in aerosol paints. Some positives to note: another layer if it "doesn't wrinkle or is patchy" is that the next coat will melt the wrinkles of the previous coat so you get a do-over, but good luck if you think the do-over will perform any better than your first, second, or third attempt.
