A: I would recommend as they are lightweight so a kid could handle one, i would consider the longer 60" version working better for the paddler reaching over the bulky sides of an inflatable as they paddle.

A: Yes this will Float – It is wood. This is not a recommendation to leave it in the water however. If you were to drop it out of a canoe or kayak when paddling it will float.
