Q: What material is this made of? Is it acid free?
3 years agoA: The item is plastic in category "5" which is Food-safe, chemically inert, Polypropylene and should not off-gas any dangerous chemicals. The item is semi-hard transparent plastic so the term "acid-free" does not apply to it. Acid-free relates to paper containers which may leach into contents due to humidity. Polypropylene is the second-best choice for archival storage after PET (archival polyester) mostly because the latter is clear and easier to see the contents without opening.
