I bought this so that my grandson can reach the sink. When he's not around, it folds up nicely. There was a less expensive somewhat similar stool that just didn't open out flat on top, but this one does.

A: Not sure, but it is a hard plastic. It doesn’t bend at all, it’s perfectly rigid. The top surface has a rubber layer for grip.
