Too long on the shelf

I had a lot of trouble stirring the paint with a thick solid layer on the bottom of the can. It must have sat on the shelf for a very long time. I needed the repair completed quickly and made it work but I should have returned it.

If your a true jack of trades then your instincs will always guide you to Tremclad paints ,smooth going on looking silk when dried and you think it's just for metal , great look on bare wood even finish while still seeing the grain and you know it will last because it is tough against the enviroment

Q: Should I use a primer on wood before applying water based tremclad

A: Hi Dave, Great question! Our Tremclad Rust Paint cures very stiff and rigid and does not allow for any flexibility. A wood surface is going to expand and contract and will be quite flexible, and the paint will not be able to flex with the wood causing it will crack and chip off, even with a primer. For wood, we recommend our Painter's Touch brush on paint or our Painter's Touch Ultra Cover 2X spray paint instead.

A: Yes, the Tremclad Waterbased Finish can be used to paint a metal door. If a filler is used for repairs, primer is recommended.

A: We do not recommend this product for painting over elastomeric roof coating. It will not adhere or cure properly. A fresh coat of Gardner STA-KOOL Elastomeric Roof Coating, Product # 64-1190, may be your best option for re-coating.
