Tremcald

I use Tremclad exclusively to restore my 25 year old utility trailer that is like an old friend to me for all the work it has done. It never let me down and, like an old friend, it never complained no matter how much I made it work under heavy loads. So I decided it was finally time to restore it and take care of it. I wouldn't trust any other product than Tremclad to protect its metal work, making it look and work great! Trust Tremclad.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us! For the best finish, we recommend applying several light coats of Tremclad Rust Spray Paint a few minutes apart, versus trying to achieve full coverage with one coat. You also want to ensure that you are holding the can upright 10-16" from the surface and spraying in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can the same distance from the surface and in motion while spraying as well. We hope that helps! rustoleum-ca

Q: Will this paint stick to zinc plated braces? I'm trying to hide the silver color.

2 Answers
  • A: I used it on wrought iron metal and it worked well for that application, but I’m not sure it would work on zinc plated material, it may not adhere/bond to it.

Q: Can I spray this right over existing paint? Just got a brand new steel roof rack. Cheers.

  • A: I would sand the surface as much as possible to ensure a better paint bond. Give it a day or so to try and do another coat. I would stay away from the clear coat from the same brand. It didn't work for me. Good luck!

Q: Will this work on mold on unfinished drywall in the garage?

1 Answer
  • A: Hi Jax71, Our Tremclad Rust paint is not effective on mold. We recommend using our Concrobium Mold Control first to kill any mold on the drywall. Allow the antimicrobial to dry completely, typically around 2 hours. Once dry, use a cloth dampened with Concrobium Mold Control to remove any dead mold and to wipe away any excess residue. Allow the drywall to then dry for a full 24 hours to avoid any adhesion issues with the Tremclad paint.
