Q: do we need to put a primer before painting on wood?

A: Hi Keith, If the wood is bare, a primer like our Zinsser Cover Stain is recommended. Just keep in mind, our Tremclad Farm & Implement Paint is recommended for metal surfaces only. Wood will expand and contract with the moisture and humidity changes and the paint coating will not be able to flex with the movement and may cause the paint to crack. Frequent reapplication may be necessary.
