Low Drip, Smooth Application

2 months ago

Prepped the surface by scraping off loose rust (car undercarriage), then applied 2 coats of this rust reformer. It sprays on evenly and drips noticeably less than the regular rust reformer I’ve used in the past. Planning to follow up with Tremclad rust paint and a rubberized coating on top. Will update this review down the line with long-term results.

Q: Can this be used on steel rims

A: Hi, Great question! Our Tremclad Automotive Rust Reformer Spray can be used on steel rims after prepping the surface. Hand tool clean (SSPC-SP-2) or power tool clean (SSPC-SP-3) to remove loose rust, mill scale and deteriorated previous coatings. Smooth, hard or glossy finishes should be scarified by sanding to create a surface profile. For best results, use TREMCLAD® Flat Grey Primer (5807582838) or Flat Red Primer (5807569838) on sound rusted or clean metal before the application of the Rust Reformer.
