real easy to update maps

I bought this a week ago. Tried it out same day and I found some newer streets in my community were missing from the map. Performed a map update the next day. Very easy. Tried it out again and the new streets are there. I've been using it for a week. Very happy with the VIA 1615TH.

First one failed within 2 hours

My old and reliable Tom Tom gps died so I picked up this new one. This one only got me about 2 hours down the road before it wouldn’t turn back on. I had it plugged in the whole time. I’m not sure what the problem was. I exchanged it for another and the replacement unit was fine but the speaker isn’t as clear as my old Tom Tom gps

Straight forward, easy to use, excellent navigator, once payed - maps supported. First bought Garmin, returned - too much fluff, extra fees later, has to be sincronized with your phone, blue tooth, the whole world, basically just another money pit.

A More Convenient GPS

The TomTom 1615 TM GPS with its online ability to plan and upload routes, points of interest and mapping makes this one of the most convenient GPS's I've ever used. After a short learning curve, you can be using this unit for all you navigation needs. The ability to set your whole trip on your computer and then upload to your device is both efficient and user friendly. It does take a few minutes to set up but it is well worth the effort. The 6" screen is a perfect size and the clarity is easy to see and read. Getting through the menus takes a little getting used to but afte a few uses you get in to it pretty well. I would definitely recommend this device to family and friends. It surely made my last 2 trips fun and easy to navigate through. Now, if it could only do the driving! :-)

We really liked the large touch screen. It was easy to type on the keyboard and to see the route. We thought it was neat the austraillian guys saying about rolling up the window and and not letting the seagulls got our chips haha

A: For the latest TomTom VIA 1615/1625 devices, if purchased in the US/Canada, the device comes with pre-installed maps of either USA or USA & Canada or USA, Canada and Mexico and the user is eligible to update the maps under our lifetime map subscription. The user of the device, can always update the pre-installed maps on the device from any part of the world, provided they have an active internet connection and MyDrive Connect software on the computer. In case the user wants to install additional maps of different regions/countries (apart from the pre-installed maps on the device), the user needs to purchase a map update subscription from TomTom website.

Q: Does it enable me to avoid any toll roads in advance ? As I don't have a transponder ! Only here on holiday !

A: For all of our devices, there is a route planning preference where a user can manually select to avoid toll roads while planning a route. Q: Unit shows 63 in 65mph zone but dash says rpm in redline and over 200. Gps signal issue?

A: 035-4052 does not have GPS signal issues. The image is not of the product actually in use.

Q: How does this device get traffic information? Some of the newer units require a smartphone (which uses your phone's data plan). Does this model require a smartphone to provide the traffic information? If not, does this package include a charger cable with an incorporated traffic receiver?
